The auditions for First Baptist of Ivy Gap are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, February 15th and 16th at 6:30 pm.
They will be held at the Royal Theatre on 111 South Market in downtown Benton. This is a non-musical, so no preparation is necessary. Gina Welch will be directing.
This play is set during WWII when six women gather at the church to roll bandages and plan the church’s 75th anniversary.
Act II is set 25 years after act I, so each cast member will be playing two different ages:
Luby (ages 47 & 72) is a widowed member of the church who fears for the welfare of her son in the military.
Olene (ages 25 & 50) is a member of the church with a dream. There is a small amount of singing with this role, but in a joking and playful way.
Mae Ellen (ages 25 & 50) The church’s rebellious organist. There is a small amount of singing with this role but in a joking and playful way.
Edith (ages 40 & 65) is the pastor’s take-charge wife. A small amount of not perfect singing with this role.
Sammy (ages 19 & 44) is a nonmember of the church with a secret.
Vera (ages 40 & 65) is a prominent member of the church, also with a secret.
